The US has the renewable energy resources to repower itself many times over however we do not have the political will in Washington to free us from fossil fuels and nuclear power. The scientific and business community is behind the renewable energy industry and not the fossil fuel and nuclear power industry.
The current US power generation business plan is to replace a large amount of electricity generated from coal with natural gas. This short sighted business strategy will ultimately lead to a major disruption in the world natural gas supply demand curve. We obviously have not learned anything from the fossil fuel supply demand curve in the last 30 years The oil price volatility the world has been experiencing in the last ten years is directly related to world oil demand and the same will happen with natural gas. Severe oil price shocks have devastated our petroleum base economy in the last five years and natural gas is no different than oil and its potential damaging effect to our economy. Do we really have 100 years of recoverable economical natural gas in the US or is it special interest controlling our media and certain government agencies. No one can doubt the close business relationship industry has with government agencies and we witnessed its damaging effect on our environment and economy in the Gulf during the summer of 2010.
Wind and solar energy is an unlimited free supply of energy and will never have a price increase when we use more of it. Ocean wind farms construction cost is competitive with new natural gas fired power generation facilities.Ocean wind farms in the North East have the potential to power the entire North East and will never be responsible for millions of Americans to loose their jobs.
