More energy facts that will be blogged here rather then the Energy Facts page:

1. US oil production is less than half of what it was in 1970 when peak oil occurred even with advances in new drilling technology and deep water drilling.
2. For every four barrels of oil we consume in the world we only find less than two new ones.
3. There has not been a major discovery of oil in the world since the middle 1960’s.
4. The world has known about peak oil since 1956
5. The world is dependent on a depleting resource that has and will continue to adversely effect its economic health and prosperity.

6. The United States cannot produce its way out of the supply-demand gap. The most cost-effective, speedy way to reduce our oil dependence is to reduce U.S. oil demand.
